listen to a lot of stuff, but about 80% is dark ambient/drone... coil, is my favorite.

curb your enthusiasm, 90210, rome, twin peaks, nip/tuck

Books:

the decameron, divine comedy (esp inferno and purgatorio), la vita nuova, the book of j, the rivkin/ryan anthology of literary theory, maldoror, anything jt leroy, john irving, salman rushdie, gita mehta, camille paglia, e e cummings, nabokov, borges, angela carter, childhood books (greek and norse mythology, arthurian legends, arabian nights, hans christian andersen, tolkein, watership down, phantom tollbooth, black beauty), irreverent classics of kink (de sade, story of the eye, story of o, etc). ted hughes' tales from ovid is awesome. the greatest book to own is the 20 vol oxford english dictionary.
