Greetings!Rex Tremolo is a rock trio with roots in blues, r&b, rockabilly and jazz. The band features hot rhythm, tight arrangements, dynamic solos and solid vocals cooked up in an exciting and tasty musical stew. Combining the talents and music of guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Jon Wolfe, drummer Luther Rix and bassist Al Greene, Rex Tremolo plays mostly original material that is at home in small and large settings, and is equally listenable and danceable. The band knows how to heat up a room, light up a stage, and keep the people in their seats, or on the dance floor, depending on where they need to be.Jon Wolfe is a veteran performer whose work with Rick Estrin (Little Charlie/Rick Estrin and The Nightcats), Paul Butterfield drummer Sam Lay,Texas Horn maestro Kaz Kazanoff and many others gave him a solid foundation for his current songwriting and playing. Wolfe also founded D.Z Vibe, the eclectic band featured by Bob Putignano live on his WFDU radio program Sounds of Blue.
Luther Rix, a member of Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Review can be heard on Dylan’s Desire album. Rix is a veteran of stage and studio, and has recorded and performed with a who’s who of rock, r&b, jazz and pop performers, including Esther Phillips, Patti LaBelle, Lonnie Mack, The Blues Project, Cissy Houston and Whitney Houston, Doug Kershaw, and The James Montgomery Blues Band.
Bassist Al Greene plays with indie band The Alice Project, and appeared in the hit Broadway musical Jersey Boys, where he not only played bass, but sang, danced and acted as well, hopefully not all at the same time. Al has also played with a wide variety of musical performers, and is a well known music instructor.
