DUTY ... HONOR ... COUNTRY !
In HONOR of ALL who serve this GREAT NATION!
" A Warrior's Farewell "
Written by Guardsman ... USAF ( Ret.) Robert E. Joseph
I've heard the crack of rifles
I've heard the Bugle's cry
I've seen the tears flow down the cheeks
Of those who say good-bye...
To their Fallen Warrior
The honor guard's my place to be
To comfort those who mourn
But still the sadness fills my heart
Each time I hear the horn...
For a Fallen Warrior
They fought the wars that kept me free
And now I will repay
To them the honor they deserve
For Taps will end the day...
Of a Fallen Warrior
Honor, respect, and dignity
They earned this much and more
A last salute we give to them
To those who go before ...
Our Fallen Warriors
My duty's done, my heart feels right
That I have filled a need
Somewhere a family will recall
A guardsman's caring deed ...
To their Fallen Warrior
Tomorrow though it's time again
To hear the bugle's cry
And hear the guns and see the tears
As our nation says good-bye ...
To them, Our Fallen Warriors

"Bugles Across America" is an organization of nearly 6,000 Volunteer Buglers from ALL 50 States & Abroad,
DEDICATED to providing LIVE Taps for our Veterans & Fallen.
In January 2000, Congress passed legislation guaranteeing each Veteran the right to at least Two Uniformed Servicemen, a Flag Ceremony, and the Playing of TAPS at their funeral.
Unfortunately, at the rate our veterans are now passing, there are not enough Buglers within our branches of services to meet the needs of providing LIVE Taps for each of our Veterans & Fallen.
Often, the historic melody, Taps is now played for many Veterans' last Ceremony, either on a CD player, or, via the use of a "fake" Bugle with a built in player inside, which plays a recording of Taps, and, sadly, at times ... has even failed to play, or, has stopped in the middle.
Former Marine, Tom Day decided that wasn't good enough for those who had sacrificed so much for their country.
November of 2000, Tom Day founded
"Bugles Across America", with the goal of providing TAPS played LIVE by a Volunteer Bugler at EVERY Veteran's funeral, a final "Last Salute" to our nation's veterans.
The Department of Veterans Affairs is expecting more than 1/2 million veterans to pass every year, for the next 7 years.

During Navy Seal, Petty Officer Second Class
Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego, as his coffin was being moved from the hearse to the grave site at
Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, Navy SEALs were lined up on both sides of the pallbearers route forming a column of two's, with the coffin moving up the center.
As Mike's coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.
The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it. This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero.
