About Me

I created my layout at KillerKiwi.netINFORMATION FOR THE BAND BY "MARC REPETTO" THE DRUMER OF "GRAUZONE" Grauzone (German for grey area) was a band from Switzerland active between 1978 and 1982 most famous for their 1981 song "Eisbär". Grauzone was a music/art project started in the end of 1979 by Marco Repetto (percussion) and GT (bass) who left the punk group "Glueams", around itself together with Martin Eicher (guitar to straighten song) musically new. Martin / Tinu had supported Glueams already with their single "mental". At the beginning of March, 1980 they gave their first concert as a "Grauzone" in club Spex in Bern. Martins brother Stephan Eicher (guitar) and Claudine Chirac (saxophone) complemented the group temporarily in live appearances and recordings. The band used synthesizers, light effects and super-8 film projections in their act. Grauzone was known by both pieces of "Eisbär“ and „Raum" which they took up for LP appeared in 1980 "Swiss Wave - The Album". " Eisbär " (Ice Bear) met the attitude to life of the past and got Radio-Airplay in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The piece was published as a single and achieved place 6 in the Austrian and place 12 in the German charts. Nevertheless, the group refused to go along with the commercial requirements and concentrated upon film and studio work. Publisher of punk magazine “No Fun” Urs Staiger helped Grauzone in the studio and they began recording numerous singles. In winter, 1981 they returned in the Sunrise studios where the songs “Moskau“, „Tanz“ " and „ „Ich lieb sie“ were taken up. In July and August, 1981 Martin and Stephan Eicher with Marco Repetto went to the Sunrise studio once more and took up their first and at the same time last studio album "Grauzone". In February, 1982 Ingrid Berney bumped to "Grauzone" to support Martin and Stephan Eicher live. After the last studio session with which „Ich und Du“ was taken up, the ways of the musicians separated. After not even ten concerts, four singles and an album the group 1982 resolved. They released a series of 7'' singles and 12'' maxi sinlges over the years and in 1998 a collective CD called ‘Die Sunrise Tapes’ was released... GT and Marco Repetto formed up a new with earlier Glueams guitarist Martin Pavlinec and the drummer Dominique Uldry, first than „ Missing link “, then under the name "Eigernordwand". Afterwards GT changed to the action group leaned to the futurism „ Red Catholic Orthodox Jewish Chorus “ around the performance artist Edy Marconi in which at times also Marco Repetto played. Later the group "I Suonatori" was called. Stephan Eicher began a successful solo career. In 1988 Martin Eicher published the EP "Spellbound of lover “, an unusual, nevertheless unnoticed work. Marco Repetto worked from 1989 in Techno-and Ambient scene as a DJ, musician and producer a name.DISCOGRAFYSingles - 1981 - Eisbär/Ich lieb sie 1981 - Moskau/Ein Tanz mit dem Tod/Ich lieb sie 1982 - Träume mit mir/Wütendes Glas 1983 - Moskau/Film 2Maxi-Singles- 1981 - Eisbär/Ich lieb sie/Film 2 1982 - Träume mit mir/Ich und du/Wütendes Glas 1986 - Eisbär/Film 2/Ich lieb sie (CD)Albums - 1981 - Grauzone LP 1991 - Grauzone CD 1998 - Die Sunrise Tapes CD

At the end of the song you can here a very strange saxophon played by Claudine Chirac (Starter). Because she never was an official member of the band and no one wanted to share earnings of the single edition with her, the saxophon was cut...
