AFRI-KOKOA is back for the second year collaborating with the Student Union University of the Arts London on a mini-festival hosted by the Afro-Caribbean Society and Black Students Assembly as part of Black History Month . We will present African drumming workshops, a market stall and AFRI-KOKOA DJs at the London College of Communication on Thursday 1st October 2009, 12pm-5pm.
This will be an exciting alternative mini-festival for the new students of the University of the Arts London with free African Drumming workshops, an modern African grooves DJ and a market staff with information on Afro-arts organization AFRI-KOKOA.
Drumming workshops will be led by the dynamic workshop leader Usifu Jalloh from Sierra Leone who is a professional actor, dancer, percussionist and storyteller, whose unique skills introduce audiences and participants to West African traditions and cultures. The afternoon will be soundtracked in the Bar in dance floor filling style with one of the finest DJ Eric Soul (Afrogroov) laying sounds ranging from ‘Afro beat’, ‘Afro-Brazil’, ‘African Hip hop’, ‘Reggae’, ‘Afro-Cuban’, ‘Broken beat’, ‘Afro-House’, ‘Hip Hop’, ‘Roots’, ‘Soul’, ‘Kwaito’, ‘Dubstep’, ‘Hiplife’, ‘HighLife’, ‘Soukous’, ‘Raggaeton’, ‘Poetry’, ‘Afro-Jazz’, ‘Drum and Bass’ and ‘Bashment’
There will be a market place stall selling AFRI-KOKOA t-shirts and where you can sign up further information, or find out how to collaborate on AFRI-KOKOA events in the growing African inspired arts and culture scene in London.
