About Me

I am a songwriter from Lanarkshire ,who would rather be in a band. Unfortunately, I have found it increasingly difficult to organise gigs around frequently unreliable band members. So I decided that the only way to get out and gig on a regular basis was to go back to my roots and perform my songs in their original acoustic form.I am a story telling/observational type of songwriter and write about my thoughts, things I experience or people I have come across in everyday life. Someone described me as the bastard son of Louden Wainwright III and Jarvis Cocker, which I take as a fairly good compliment.I have been playing extensively throughout Scotland and I am steadily building a loyal fanbase from playing live and word of mouth.I perform songs that me and my (very talented) pal, Scott Perrie, have written and I record and produce them in my home studio. I have been workin on recording full versions of my songs with band members as and when they are available and should hopefully have them finished before I retire. In the meantime I think I'll fire up a couple of new acoustic versions that I've done maself. Watch this space.I created a myspaz in June 2006 so that I could keep up with people who enjoy my music and want to find out about gigs and stuff about me and Scott. I have decided not to go friend hunting for the sake of it and will only add others if............1). I think they are genuinely interested in my music or me. 2). They are actual friends or people I know. and 3). Musicians, If I genuinely like your music...............If you are just adding friends to for the sake of it and haven't read my profile and can't quote the password "BAWBAG", then you probably aren't really interested and are just collecting friends to massage your already inflated ego. However if you quote the password "BAWBAG" then I will be happy to be your friend and this will be a boost to my over inflated ego.
I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Just me at the moment, but I should be able to get others along for the band experience.
Influences: I don't know who my influences are, but I love all of these..........The Beatles, Jellyfish, The Killers, Elvis Costello, Louden Wainwright 111 and Martha and Rufus, Razorlight, Primal Scream, Blondie, The Grim Northern Social, Al Green, Eels, Radiohead, Coldplay, Ben Folds (Five), Oasis, Arcade Fire, Beach Boys, Talking Heads, Jeff Buckley, The Cars, The Who, The Eagles, ELO, Pink Floyd, Free, Jimmy Eat World, The Kinks, Madness, The Faces and Rod Stewart (when he had a brit sound), Van Morrison, Massive Attack, The Monkees, Green Day, Feeder, Roddy Frame, Ryan Adams, The WhoThe List is endless, I just love music. I know that the couple of tunes I have posted are a bit morose, but many of the tunes I write and play are different to these and I wil post a couple of other more upbeat ones.
Sounds Like: Dunno. Anybody else with a guitar and some words and melodies in their head I guess. I'm not sure myself, but here's who I've been compared to by people who have listened to my music. Roddy Frame, Sqeeze, Beautiful South, John Lennon ( I like a compliment, but I think this person was drunk). Ben Folds, Louden Wainwright, Jarvis Cocker and I'm sure I will be able to add others.

Isolated

I now know that it is not a good idea to smoke isolator if you are going to be singing. Ewan's cousin, Ross (new guitarist in GNS) had rolled a humorous cigarette before we left for the Falkirk gig la...
