currently reading: Breakfast Of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut
Books so far this year:
Elizabeth Costello by J.M. Coetzee - a challenging read. still not really sure what to make of it. follows a series of lectures by an aging writer trying to come to terms with herself, her beleifs and how they fit into the world. looking forward to rereading it when i am more familiar with the topics covered and when i am in the mood for a book that is very literary and very hard going.
Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut - really good. entertaining and humourous as vonnegut always is.
Last Exit To Brooklyn by Hubert Selby Jr. - hard to follow in some parts due to the fact there is no punctuation at all! but really interesting to read about how shit life can be in inner city New York.
The Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien - a bit strange, but ok.
Cocaine Nights by J G Ballard - third time i've read it. still awesome.
The Rum Diary by Hunter S Thompson - makes you want to sit in the sun and drink rum all day!
other good books:
Borstal Boy by Brendan Behan, A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, Junkie by William S Burroughs, This Other Eden by Ben Elton, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Culture Jam by Kalle Lasn, Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnengut, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis, Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas by Hunter S Thompson, Adbusters magazine, Crash by J G Ballard, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, Jailbird by Kurt Vonnegut, Something Happened by Joseph Heller....
