Sole Food Diddley Works was founded on June 9, 2008 with the creation of the "Diddley King 1" After bumping into a picture of a Cigar Box guitar on the web, I thought it would be fun to throw one together. Two days later, on the front porch of Eddie Dunn's Lake Bistineau camp, The Diddley King was completed. Inspired by 19th century stringed instruments and infused with 21st century lutherie elements such as asymmetrical bracing and ecologically responsible exotic woods. Most importantly, they are made on dead-reckoning and good, old fashion sweat with my bare hands (with a little help from a power drill and router...). Every piece of wood is listened to. If it wants to make music, it will tell you so...
This first instrument was almost called The Cheese Cutter. After some very positive feedback, and design suggestions, five more models are currently in the works with several more still stuck in my head. Many thanks to my partner in String Theory Guitars, Mr. John Rossiter, for my initial forrays into guitar making. These instruments are 100% hand-hade in the shop we built together at my home.
This shop, located in Shreveport, Louisiana will be filling custom orders this summer, as well as continuing to produce and refine current models along with continuing development of new instruments.
I also do repairs and setups of other guitars.
I am a Fender Certified Tech.

Thanks,
Gary Krepak
