HULA BABY

Allá por marzo de 2007, un grupo de amigos, viendo el directo de Hi-Risers y The Neanderthals, comprueban que tras escuchar esos acordes tan bailongos y tan bien tocados, con una formación simple, pero totalmente efectiva, la gente no puede parar de agitar sus cuerpos al ritmo de la música. Es de ésta forma como nace el grupo vallisoletano HULA BABY, y es precisamente a eso a lo que se dedican, a versionear canciones de los grupos antes citados, así como de otros grupos varios del rock and roll de los sesenta, como The Sonics o The Who. Hasta aquí se podría tratar de cualquier otro grupo de versiones como tantos, pero lo más destacado de su repertorio es que modifican las letras para cantarlas en castellano, con unas letras muy especiales y divertidas. Fue aproximadamente al comienzo de 2008 cuando empezaron su andadura por salas de Valladolid y alrededores. Buena parte del secreto de HULA BABY reside en las tablas que sus componentes ya han adquirido gracias a su paso por otras bandas, algunas ya de hace 10 e incluso 15 años. That was the way the band from Valladolid HULA BABY was born, and THAT is, exactly, what they actually do, to play covers from the previously mentioned bands, as well as other rock and roll bands from the sixties, as The Sonics, or The Who. Until that point, we could be talking about things usually made by many others, BUT, what makes the difference with other band's setlists, is that they modify the original lyrics to sing the songs in Spanish, AND, when possible, phonetically similar, and, of course, funny. The band started playing some months ago, in the beginning of 2008. A good part of the secret of HULA BABY lies in their experimented members, who have played in several bands for 10, even 15 years. So, if you have the chance to enjoy one of their gigs, don't have any doubt!!
