MARIE

My name is Marie. I am French. That should be enough, but I feel I should tell you more. I moved to the islands to escape my previous life; everyone deserves a fresh start, so I thought "Why not me?" I am the daughter of Cherie, a lovely French woman, who unfortunately lost an eye in a nasty shuffleboard accident on a ship coming from Normandy. Cherie never let it affect her life. My father, Jaques, was a sailor in the French navy. Jaques was thrown overboard (or so the story goes...) and was rescued by sea turtles. The love they showed my father has encouraged me to start a sanctuary to protect these poor souls from the predators in the ocean. They give me such joy and I will devote the rest of my life to them. I spend the rest of my time thinking about my dear friend, Turk, the infamous international auditor, who has helped me out of several sticky financial situations. Our friendship is deep, as witnessed by my French son, David, who bears a striking resemblance to Turk and also has shown a great love of numbers! I love my life in the islands. I have recently taken up the French Horn and have tinkered with French recipes, such as French Toast, French Fries and crepes. The future holds such promise for me and possibly a certain Greek auditor.
