After Alms

About Me

Pushing the envelope with intricate vocal harmonies, thought-provoking lyrics and carefully crafted music, After Alms debut, Superstone, is a breath of fresh air. The single, 6:23, is a driving pop punk rocker that demands to be turned up. Girls In Bars is a synthesizer driven shot from the 80s. Pure hard rock joy comes in the form of Again With the Heat and Behave, rock anthems with attitude. Mini-epic and title track Superstone somehow seems longer than its running time and is emotion for the ears. The rest of the release is rounded out by I Kiss Roses, Don't Call Me, The Ballad (yes, that's really its name), No Matter, Ashes and Dust, and the all out balls to the wall rocker Hotbox Man.

Derrick Davidson
Rhythm Guitar, Keys, and Lead Vocals

Double D studied at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati and majored in Theory and Composition. Despite being fairly drunk throughout most of his junior and senior years in high school, he managed to graduate, largely because the staff didn't want him around any longer than was absolutely necessary. A potent songwriting force, Double D channels creative energy from his evil pet cat.

Mark Broge
Bass, Rhythm Guitar, Vocals

Mark, the Luca Bomber, came into the world with an attitude and promptly urinated on his father. Thus began a long tradition of bucking authority. Mark says he likes the bass because there are only four strings and they're bigger. Mark and Derrick crossed paths and spent the three years getting drunk and writing music in the basement of a local pizzeria. Some things never change.

Joey Tenenbaum
Lead Guitar

"The Kid" brings his considerable six string skills right up in ya face. Although not much is known about him, Joey turned up one day when practice was over and the beer came out (funny how that happens). He picked up Mark's silver Gretsch and shredded the poor thing. Joey buys random things on Craigslist with the pennies fans throw, so he's poor like the rest of us but he's got lots of "stuff."

Jeremy Shearer
Drums and Percussion

Despite his outwardly calm appearance, Jman is a trained killer. Cheese coneys quiver at the very mention of his name. Jeremy once dreamed of being a Bengals linebacker but his dreams of football were dashed when he got kicked off the high school team for something involving small farm animals. That's why we keep him behind the kit... animals and bandmates are safer that way. And we think it also explains why he sometimes calls himself "Professor Pork Pie."

Influences: Our backgrounds and tastes are diverse and we draw from all of it. Derrick and Mark grew up with 80s cock rock, and Derrick is fond of "Whitesnakin'" when he sings. Mark likes it all, as long as it's not manufactured for radio and TV (a la Britney Spears). Jeremy is all over the big hair 80s and secretly yearns for the next New Kids on the Block record. Joey has a thing for blues, from Hendrix to Clapton and all others. We're all over the map, but it makes for great chemistry.
Sounds Like: Hey man, this is rock and roll. It's like THAT.
