Many would agree that many Australian grown urban artists have what it takes to make it big in the music industry here and overseas.
Sources reveal that the major labels in the United States are constantly looking for Artists from Australia but since we don't support our own..why should they?
The level of support to our home grown artists is somewhat very lacking as compared to what they get overseas.
Why for example did Che'Nelle sell more records in Germany than in her home country of Australia?
Why do our musicians look at establishing themselves overseas?
Simple, the local support just isn't there.
What can be done you ask?
1. Support all our local artist, by attending local gigs, be it at a pub, club or a show down the local park.
2. Show your love and appreciation for good home grown talent.
3. Support all our artist currently overseas at the moment recording or touring.
4. Promoters, please consider touring more and more of the local home grown talent.
5. As a fan, encourage the promoters to do so.
6. Ask your radio, TV stations to play more and more of local music.
7. Musicians, singers, songwriters, producers etc, use this page to network as much as you can and promote yourself on here, add your links etc.. this is only a starting point to supporting ourself...
Obviously this list could go on forever but i'm sure this can be the starting point to something much bigger.
