On The March is a paper written publication about Heavy Metal music and epic art in general (classic/ soundtrack/ folk music, literature, cinema, comics etc). The first idea of its formation took place in 1996, when two underground maniacs, George 'The Sorcerer' and Haris 'The White Wolf' decided to give birth to a fanzine entitled AVENGER 'zine, where they could write about their favourite music. Although there was ready enough material (interviews and articles) that effort has never seen the light of day, due to personal problems. But as the fire has never been put out from their hearts, in September 2002 they came back to their base and decided to give it another try, changing the name to ON THE MARCH. Along with the precious help of two contributors (Stelios 'Barbarian Knight' and Alekos 'Heathen from the North'), they started gathering new material and in the 4th of January 2003 the first issue became a reality. Then Haris left for personal reasons, but only as a co-publisher, as from time to time he contributes with his knowledge and passion for Metal music.
The main reason of existence of this publication is no other than allow us to express our feelings about the music we are in love with. We are not at all underground heroes or 'defenders' of the Heavy Metal faith. Of course the basic part of its contents deal with the underground Metal acts, but not because they are into underground, but because they deliver much better music than most of the on-ground (or mainstream if you prefer) shit that 'big' labels are releasing as clones.
Apart from that in every issue we include coloumns with many different things that we would like to read in another magazine as fans. For example coloumns like On The Past [from now on "Army of the Un-Dead" with old masterly vinyls (not necessarily rare, but surely beloved)], Legendary Demos [with demo recordings that has remained in history], as also articles about Heroic Fantasy writers and books, albums not into metal but with such an epic feeling that most of the so-called Epic Metal bands haven't even dreamed of and many more.
Until now there have been released 5 issues.
The new sixth issue will come out in about a month, it will be written in English and shall include some translated articles and interviews of the last two Greek written editions, plus more new material that is ready. More info soon...
