Detective Tori-Lynn Heaton

About Me

My name is Tori-Lynn Heaton. I am a police Detective in Rhode Island and I've been in the biz for 18+ years. I am a survivor of Domestic Violence perpetrated at the hands of fellow police officer within my police agency in 1998 and 1999.....As a result of my personal experience, I have become devoted to the issue of Domestic Vioelence. In particular I have a special passion for addressing the issue of Law Enforcement Officer Involved Domestic Violence. It is my personal mission to educate and train others in the criminal justice fields to recognize and appropriately address the needs of those victimized by a police officer abuser. The dynamics involved in this type of relationship are unique and planning a course of action to escape the violence takes very careful and unique analysis of the individual set of circumstances in order to navigate the special skills, tools and knowledge of a law enforcement professional......If you want to learn more about my personal experiences and the work I do, please Google my name "Tori-Lynn Heaton" and you will find more than enough reading material including an except from CBS News Program 48 Hours "Living With the Enemy" which featured my abuser's criminal trial regarding the crimes committed against me. I'm working on getting those resources linked to my site here. Please be patient with me. I'm still new here...... God bless and Be safe.Disclaimer: Though I am an active member of the Cranston Police Department, this page is purely of my own creation and is in no way officially linked to the Cranston Police Department. I am happy to field questions and foward people in the right direction for help, but no response to an inquiry I may provide is intended to be construed as legal advice in anyway. If you are in immediate danger, please call your local domestic violence agency or police department for direct services. In addition, please be cautious of the 'footprints' you may leave behind if you are in an abusive relationship, your abuser may be able to track your online activities.
