About Me
When it comes to the “total package,†Y.M.G (Young Money Gripa) is without a doubt, as close as it gets. What makes his music instant hits and memorable are his off the wall and out of the box style that allows him to switch up rhyme schemes at the change of a beat with a flow that brings constant and instant eargasms to listeners. This makes him truly a force to be reckoned with in the Hip Hop community. When searching for a comparison you’d have to ask “where should I start?†His rhyme schemes can be as straight forward and flowing like self-proclaimed KingAbout | FAQ | Terms | New Privacy | Safety Tips | Contact MySpace | Advertise | MySpace International | MySpace Latino©2003-2008 MySpace.com. Described as a self-made innovator, it’s unlikely to not notice his signature flow, style and swagger on every track on his album "U Know Me, I'm Y.M.G." Y.M.G., born Ellis Gripper, was raised in South West Atlanta, Georgia a.k.a The S.W.A.T.S. “Here’s something newâ€, unlike most rappers stories that you hear about that originate in the streets, Y.M.G. street tale derives from a middle-class family. Nonetheless, this didn’t soften the bumps in the road. For some, it’s hard to believe that Y.M.G only started rapping X years ago at the age of 16. For most of his childhood, his passion was basketball. The basketball court was here where Y.M.G. developed the strong work ethic that is evident in every track he records. During his senior year in high school, after he got kicked off the basketball team, he started taking music seriously. That’s when Y.M.G. hooked up with two childhood friends and formed a group called S.Y.E. (Some Young Entertainers). After graduation and receiving a basketball scholarship to Fisk University he did not forget about music. In fact, he began to focus more on his solo career. It was around that time that tragedy struck. In the summer of 2006, while Y.M.G. was attending orientation, his older brother Jefferey “Big Gripp†Gripper, Jr. was killed. It was then that he vowed he’d make music his life and build up the legacy of his brother. The tragedy extracted greatness out of Y.M.G. and he proved his intellect by maintaining a 3.2 G.P.A the whole academic year. While still in school, he plans to continue his music career and become the next, newest and best artist representing Hip-Hop, internationally. With a high level of intellect, rhyme skills and a swagger that would make any southern Hip-Hop artist envious, it’s obvious Y.M.G. plans to prove that the music is alive and well. T.I. once said, “the best gift that comes with being successful is, being able to create opportunities for the people next to you.†Y.M.G cherishes that, but first he has to create an opportunity for himself through his music. Currently, Y.M.G workin on his debut solo mixtape, "The Diary Of Y.M.G". which is to be released sometime in the early 2008. S.Y.E is not finished.
