About Me

Random A.O.K. (aka: Random Acts Of Kindness) is the creation of LA Based musician Dan Joeright. A native of Cleveland, OH, Joeright is a veteran drummer of the New York and LA music scenes where he has performed and recorded with many artists including Jim White, Terry Hall (The Specials), Abby Travis (Beck, Elastica) and Kristian Hoffman (Klaus Nomi, The Mumps). Some highlights in his career include being tapped by producer David Byrne (Talking Heads) for recording sessions and sitting in on percussion with trip-hop pioneers, Morcheeba. In addition to drumming, Joeright has also collaborated in the writing and producing of many of the projects with which he has been involved.Joeright’s song writing on Random A.O.K.’s debut EP, Solidify, expands far beyond his drummer roots. The five emotional tracks are both dreamily melodic and lushly orchestrated with a moodiness reminiscent of Daniel Lanois’ solo work and more than a trace of Lennon psychedelia. Since Solidify, Random’s sound has expanded to include a more direct and aggressive approach incorporating more of their rock n’ roll sensibilities. The band, consisting of: Pierre Smith (Elvez), guitar; Chris Camacho (Forest For The Trees), bass; David Strayer (Forest For The Trees), drums; and Paula Yoo (Love), violin, provides sweeping counterpoint and driving rhythms to Joeright’s expressive vocals. Random A.O.K. performs regularly in Los Angeles and has their second EP coming in January 2006. - Jim Paul
