Soho is my Bohemian Notebook Computer that can produce an album live, as it is playing. It enables me to do mixes I only dreamed of on vinyl. I use a database of 14 years worth of underground and popular club music categorized by BPM, Key Signature, usual id3 tag info, and a record of intros and outros that I and many others have mixed. Genres were meant to be broken and this is my axe.
Influences: Actually - Mozart's Requiem Mass, Rachmaninoff's Prelude in Gm, Gyorgy Ligeti, Damien Jaques' Brave New World of Polka, Longineu Parsons' Boogy Woogy Man, and the list goes on.....
.......but I dont expect people to know these, although I encourage you to listen to them, So here's what my current mixes have sounded like - described by the list of people who are more popular whom I frequently mix:
Foundation - Portishead, Tricky, Massive Attack, Ministry of Sound - Cill Out Sessions, Frou Frou, Morcheeba, and Anne Leonnix
Upbeat to - Goldfrapp, Aphrodite, Bad Boy Bill (lol), and Benny Bennassi
With heavy samples from - Peaches - Fuck the Pain Away, MIA, Eminem, White Stripes, Micheal Jackson, and the Cure
I have been known to mix things like The Pixies with the Scissor Sisters and Pink Floyd while maintaining a cohesive mix. I gauge the crowd to give them the lyrics they know, beats like they have never heard, and an operatic themed event for the evening in four stages.
Sounds Like: The sound track to the dream you have while awake. The same dream as almost everyone in the room. Time Space and Gravity expressed in harmonic vibration with lyrics plagiarized from your subconscious.
