Marketing Dept was formed by Chicago publicist David Lewis in the spring of 2008. The company functions as an affordable independent arts and media consultation firm for musicians, filmmakers, artists, writers, photographers and other various deadbeats. Lewis had previously worked with both Hopper PR and Jade Tree before founding Riot Act Media in 2004. With Riot Act Lewis went on to handle the marketing and public realtions for a slew of indie acts, a few authors, and at least one furniture designer. Included in that long list are: The 1900s, All Smiles, Ambulette, Biology, Bouncing Souls, Bound Stems, The Comedians of Comedy, Che Arthur, Chin Up Chin Up, Crystal Skulls, Denali, Engine Down, The End Of The World, David Bazan,Des Ark, Dr Dog, Girls Rock!Chicago, Glorytellers, Headphones, Hot Snakes, Joan Of Arc , Lifetime, Loney, Dear, Make Believe, Mannequin Men, Maps & Atlases, Maritime, Micah P Hinson, Minus The Bear, Moonrats, The Narrator, Nurses, The One Am Radio, Owen, Pedro The Lion, Paint It Black, Pinebender, Russian Circles, Say Hi, Schoolyard Heroes, Snowden, The Subjects, Texas Is The Reason, These Arms Are Snakes, The Valley Arena, Titles, Young Widows....designer Erich Ginder, author Norman Brannon and the lads at Featherproof Books.... and then there's Chad Molloy.
