As Walking Fades...
So little to say, yet so much to feel.
As Walking Fades never really was a "thing".
Neither a concept or a group of people.
It is and has always been more like a feeling and a dream.
In such a way that when you hear or say it out loud,
you can't help but smile, yet you also feel so much agony of all kinds.
You feel empty in places where things like love
have been taken away from you.
You feel happiness in some strange and abstract way.
You feel alone, yet so smothered by everyone.
You Just FEEL.
The story of the band started a long time ago.
About the time Gijs was born.
From his birth on, Gildwin and Gijs have always been
on the same road towards their goals.
It didn't start with music though.
It started with a bond, a connection,
a friendship and sharing the same blood.
(nevertheless, music has always been a major part of their lives)
The actual playing of music together,
started about three years ago.
Gildwin had been playing the piano
ever since he could stay seated
and had been playing the guitar for about a year.
Gijs had just begun to learn how to play the guitar,
but was improving at great speed.
It didn't take long before they started playing music together.
June.19 2008.
On this day "As Walking Fades",
as a name for all the feelings, was born.
Although Gildwin and Gijs had been writing songs
on their own for a very long time,
it was only then that they really started writing together.
With stunning results!
Everything started going faster and faster for them.
Labels, concerts,...didn't seem so far away anymore.
Oh yes of course!
Labels and concerts don't just pop up,
a lot of work is involved.
But every single day
is one step closer towards the dream.

A Tiny Little Piece of Gold
It seems different
the sky, when I look up
It is strange to be lying here on my own
I remember the days when you told me you loved me
but somehow you changed your mind
As soon as I thought your love was real
you showed me how to break a heart
You turned and fled away
leaving me scared and hurt
I've seen the sun go down twice now
every little sound keeps me awake
It's hard to fall asleep
when the world screams for attention
Can't even see the point of sleeping
'cause the dog's licking my face
Snatching at the clouds
like Ivy on an Ivied tree
The sky now has the color
of a piece of iron
rusting in the rain
The leaves of trees fall off
and cover the road
that leads me to my home
White stripes of airplanes
have been carved into the sky
and slowly die
It's cut it open
and now red blood there
takes it all over
I've seen the sun go down twice now
every little sound keeps me awake
It's hard to fall asleep
when the world screams for attention
Can't even see the point of sleeping
'cause the dog's licking my face
Snatching at the clouds
like Ivy on an Ivied tree
You are a tiny little piece of gold
in a river filled with stones
and with every sudden wave
you're being taken far away from me
There is nothing
nothing I can do
to make you stay.
