Originally from Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire Jack Baldus is a young professional session and performance pianist and keyboard player based in Bristol. For the past 3 years he has studied at Leeds College of Music focusing on jazz, and played in various venues such as theatres, hotels, bars in the Yorkshire area, supporting and collaborating with such artists as: Corrine Bailey Rae, The Haggis Horns, The Sugar Hill Gang, Omar Puente, Chunky Butt Funky. At Leeds College of Music, he was awarded for Outstanding Achievement in musical performance.
Jack’s influences include, among many others, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Michael Jackson, Radiohead, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye. His range of interests covers from strict Be-Bop to Hip-Hop and Bluegrass to Heavy Metal.
Jack also writes, teaches, performs solo and in various groups around his home area and nationwide. He also founded and is managing director of 'Jamstand' festival in Ross-on-Wye for three years running (Jack’s own initiative). ‘Jamstand 2010’ is already in the planning.
Now based in Bristol, Jack now has residencies at various bars and sessions for various Soul/R&B/Hip-Hop/Funk/Pop acts who are signed to Sony/BMG, as well as hosting an open mic night for acoustic acts in London and Bristol. Past residencies include The Hilton Leeds, Mio Modo, Leeds Roundhouse Theatre, The Wardrobe and many more..
