Their musical orientation was and is Death Metal, but nevertheless multiple influences left their traces within their compositions.Some gigs were played in the region in and around Wilhelmshaven and Oldenburg and the repertoire has been expanded until today with exclusively self-written song-materials.In 2007 the second guitarist left the band for some personal reasons, but the remaining band members only took this as a reason to perform a course correction, which resulted in discarding at least 75% of their songs in order to make a final cut, giving the band the chance to fulfill their imaginations of Death Metal in a better way. The result was much more powerful music than before which could be explained with the new focus on basic brutality. As soon as a repertoire of about 45 minutes was achieved, the band focussed again on playing gigs during which the exclusively positive feedbacks of the audiences brought them to the recognition that a second guitarist wouldn’t be necessary again for now and that, finally, a demo should be recorded.Then, in February 2008 Mental Killing Spree recorded their first 5-song demo VAE VICTIS at Rosenquarz Tonstudio in Lübeck within about 3.5 days (mixing and mastering not included). The sound quality is at international standard and doesn’t have to rank behind when compared to established bands with a label. By publishing this demo via Internet (Myspace) Mental Killing Spree was able to establish contacts all around the world, that resulted in their songs being played in several radio-shows (Internet or “broadcast stations”) and in receiving several magazine interview requests from Europe, Asia, North- and Southamerica. Due to MKS’ attitude that the most important thing is to spread the music and not to prefer the financial aspect, the complete demo can be downloaded for free on their myspace-site at: www.myspace.com/mentalkillingspree either as the known MP3-files or as the original studio-.wav-files (rapidshare) that aren’t affected by any loss of quality. At the moment, the band is searching for some gigs to prove their live-qualities and is further-on planning to release a longplayer until February 2009.
