About Me
Loving writing and art itself at a ripe age, Nikita had no interest in the actual pursuit of being a musician, until the sweet age of sixteen. Born October 1st, 1989, writing was Nikki's passion and only glory. Bumping heads and writing for Chicago's widely known producers D.A. On the Track Man and Prolyfic through the connection of her mentor Mr. Peeda 'Payola' Pan himself.Nikki is a tough cookie, like a box of Chips A'Hoy left open for weeks! This girl never takes no for an answer. She set her goal to make her first major label placement songwriting and did just that, the summer of 2008. Making her first hook placement in the industry at the young age of 18, she knew her shine wouldn't stop there, nor did she expect it to be an easy ride. Not getting writers credit on the actual printed copy of the major album, highly upset this soon-to-be Chicagoan.Dedicated to make a drastic change on how she entered the industry, Nikki moves out of her fathers crowded home at 17, from Kenosha, Wi to her mothers humble abode in Californ-I-A! Unfortunately she would have to find out the hard way, that just because it looks pretty doesn't mean it is pretty. Unmotivated day in and day out, due to excessive anxiety, lack of connects, and her bipolar disorder, Nikki suffered to make ends meet emotionally and financially. She knew something had to change, so after taking a well lived vacay in sunny California, she heads back to the mid-west, this time the Windy City.About a year and some odd months in now, Nikki Nikita has been making her rounds in the city, writing and singing smash hooks for various artists.
You don't have to personally know her to feel the aura this chick illuminates. Her vocals say it all. This chick is bad! And yet so good! It's no wonder why all the rap heads want her on a track. Not only is her voice stunning, but her lyrics and melodies as well. It would be very difficult to compare this starlet to anything out right now, she stands in a category all her own. Listening to her music you would probably categorize her sound in an alternative r&b, because although her tune is different, you can still hear some familiar elements she uses from rhythm and the blues. Ahhh, the sweet sound of the new mixed in with the old. She favors many artists ranging from Bob Marley to BB King, Aretha Franklin, all the way to The Doors, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Coldplay, to John Legend, and Beyonce. She claims to like almost every music, except heavy metal and most country.Still struggling emotionally and financially at times, Nikki is dedicated to 'make it happen'."Music is the only thing keeping me alive at this point", she says.
In the mean time she continues to work on her music, is booking more and more venues, and hopes to have an album out soon. So keep on the lookout for this extremely talented singer/ songwriter, the one, the only...Nikki Nikita."I'm In Love"
