About Me

Myspace Backgrounds
Hi, my name is Stephen (pronounced Ste-Fen) Norris. Currently I work as a sports writer for the Washington Post covering high school sports in Northern Virginia. I also run my own outside E-Business Peak Performance We specialize in convenience shopping and health and wellness. I have exclusive access to some of the top nutritional supplements used by Olympic athletes such as Asafa Powell and Sanya Richards and not sold in stores. We also have a very popular energy drink called XS, which has no sugar, no carbs 8 calories and nine different flavors!I love life and have a gorgeous fiancee named Nicolle who lives too far from me. We are getting married in the illustrious Spokompton, WA on Sept. 13, 2008. She rocks my world and means everything to me. Here is our website: http://registry.weddingchannel.com/wedding_websites/Personal Website.action?occ=572726941&view=wp&c=572726941& ;s=10&t=100&p=33&l=48842I'm originally from Tacoma, WA but have lived in Colorado Springs, St. Louis and now just outside of Washington D.C. -- all after graduating from Wazzu in 2004.Here is one of my favorite speeches: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." The above speech by Nelson Mandela was orignally written by Marianne Williamson who is the author of other similar material." .. width="425" height="350" ..Myspace Backgrounds

You Are Elmo
Sweet and innocent, you expect everyone to adore you. And they usually do!

You are usually feeling: Talkative. You've got tons of stories to tell. And when you aren't talking, you're laughing.

You are famous for: Being popular, though no one knows why. Middle aged women especially like you.

How you life your life: With an open heart. "Elmo loves you!" The Sesame Street Personality QuizI love playing basketball. It takes a lot of discipline for me to go and work out everyday but it doesn't take much for me to go and play hoop. I wish I knew more places to play around where I live because I miss playing on a consistent basis. A few years ago I tore my achilles and thus have no more hops but I'll still take your butt to the hole (that goes for you too Tony Doble). Other than that I like to do recreational activities and anything that involves a lot of fun people. I miss going to Coug games at Martin Stadium but I still watch the games any chance I get with the D.C. Coug Crew... width="425" height="350" ..

I'd like to meet:

Real life heroes. Those looking for an avenue to better their lives and grow their sphere of influence.

Music:

Fav. rapper: tupac because he spoke to the people. Also like: Jay-Z, Talib Kweli, Kanye West, Common, G-Unit, pretty much the whole Aftermath dynasty, BiggieR&B-- Fav is Boyz II Men and the smooth Brian McKnight. Jodeci is close behind (but not K-ci and jo jo). Currently Usher is my favorite R&B artist, also like: Alicia Keys, 112, Shai, Barry White, Blackstreet, Luther etc pretty much anyone who can speak to the heart.dabble in some punk/rock/alternative. I did like many of the old "grunge" artists when that phase was hot. I especially am a fan of Nirvana, Green Day and Offspring.I HATE country music!

Movies:

Ali, Gladiator, Something About Mary, The Original Kings of Comedy

Television:

You can usually find me watching Sportscenter. If by chance I am not I also watch lots of comedy shows South Park, Chappelle show reruns, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report. I also like the History Channel, the Food Network and those house flipping shows, especially The Real Deal with Richard Davis! That dude is a G

Books:

The best book I have ever read is called "Wild At Heart" it is a must read for every man, or woman involved seriously with a man. I truly believe it bridges all that is wrong with men in this world to everything that a man can be. It is a psychological, sociological and spiritual look into the hearts and minds of all men. Why we act the way we do, how we need adventure, challenges and a maiden to rescue. It also explains the side of us we don't always feel proud of why we look at porn, why we treat women like crap, why we think we are more manly because we can drink more, carry a bigger Bible, know more about sports or have a bigger car. How all men are really nine year olds deep down inside. It also talks about our duty as fathers (or for some of us future fathers) and how many of our fathers created some of our deepest wounds. Just ask me about this book and I will go on for an hour!!Another book that I found very interesting and inspiring is the autobiography of Malcolm X. It could be said that Malcolm was the most mis-understood socio-political figure of the late 20th century. After reading his book and studying about him in a Civil Rights class, I was surprised at how humble this man truly was. Most people just know him as the fiery and mysterious Malcolm X. He had such a deep, deep passion to learn and in the book you see his transformation from country-bred negro to hustla, to the cutting mouthpiece for the Nation of Islam to his ultimate and final realization that much of what he taught under Elijah Muhammad had been wrong, eventually preaching a message of brotherhood of all men -- yet empowerment of blacks and the black community. The Alchemist is a great book to re-discover yourself and your dream in life.

Heroes:

I admire all these people and consider them heroes because they never/haven't given up on their dreams."the greatest tragedy in life is what dies inside a man while he is still alive."Brad Wolgamott, multi-millionaire/philathropist who has the biggest heart I know of. Spends his time and money working in the inner cities and with at-risk youth as well as empowering people all over the world to never give up on their dreams.Kevin Gerald -- my pastor, a man of incredible vision who doesn't hammer you over the head with the Bible. I always say I would attend his church even if I were an atheist because his teachings are so universal, practical and applicable to everyday life. He doesn't get caught up in all the rapture, end times nonsense but rather has a vision of a successful Christian church living their lives as examples -- instead of hypocrites -- of how biblical based principles (which I believe are largely universal) can enhance one's life spiritually, mentally, relationally, physically and socially.Caleb Walker -- I consider Caleb my best friend not in the sense that I hang out with him all the time but because he makes me a better person when I am around him. He is intense, but loose and I never get sick of talking or hanging out with him. He has so much knowledge and passion for life. He's open-minded yet firm in his beliefs. We don't agree on many things (especially a crook named Bush) but we always have thought provoking conversations.Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali and Martin Luther King Jr -- all made incredible sacrifices for the cause of Civil Rights. Malcolm for his empowerment of the black community and putting the man back into black men. I also like his economic vision of the black community and his non-reliance on the white man for handouts, and his uplifting of the black community begining with the criminals, pimps and drug dealers instead of relying on the black-bourgeoise. His image in the media was butchered many times simply because he was not in bed with the white politicians like some other Civil Rights leaders. Very few can match his passion and intensity. "By any means necesarry"Muhammed Ali -- I admire his child-like witty, humor and excitement that he displayed when he was winning. I also admire his defiance in the face of a racist government to become the most controversial, yet greatest sports figure of the 20th century and possibly ever.Martin Luther King jr -- his commitment to the Civil Rights struggle, his genius strategy in getting the attention of the mass media, his gracious, large heart for all people, his commitment to brotherhood and steadfast reliance on God.
