Everyone has experienced something painful. Whether a loved one passed away, an old boyfriend or girlfriend broke a heart, a falling out happened between friends, or anything else, everyone has been through personal pain and sadness. So many teenagers today resort to things like drinking, drugs, sex, partying, and anything else to make this pain go away. I know, I was one of them.
But this is not the answer, nor is it ever. Those things are just a practice of apathy, an excuse to make the pain go away quick, when really it just makes it worse with each time you do it.
Art is self-expression. Art is an outlet. Art is a ventilation system. Art is the answer to times of depression, hardship, and sadness.
Art is not just a beautiful painting, it is what you go home to do what you really love. It is painting, it is drawing, it is making music, it is skateboarding, it is film, it is acting, it is everything that you put your heart into. It is the remedy to putting that pain behind you.
Make Art, Not Apathy is not a clothing company, it is not some get-rich-quick scheme. It is just a movement, a movement by word of mouth, flyers, and anything. It is a movement to show those that suffer from depression and sadness and hardship that partying and getting drunk and high, and having sex, or anything is not going to make your personal pain go away. It’s the release of that pain through self-expression, through art, that will help.
