It was the early 80's and glamrock was hot. Mark (age 14), who looked like an unwanted lovechild of Mick Mars and Elly (a notorious alcoholic prostitute from Krooswijk), teamed up with Richie, a juvenile car thieve, (age 13) in a carjack in order to see a Hanoi Rocks show in a nearby town. They never arrived at the show; Richie crashed the stolen Record 1700 into a tree just three blocks from the crime scene and broke his nose against the windscreen. His first of many. It didnt take the cops long to find them and threw them in a jail cell for the night. There is where they met Tunus and Maarten. Tunus (age 17), pursuing a lucrative career in chemistry, got caught that night when his crystal meth lab concealed in an old church got discovered due to a derailed experiment which resulted in an inferno. Maarten (age 11), a very disturbed little boy raised solely by his older brother Dinand Woesthoff, got arrested when relieving himself in public on "de Lange Poten op koopavond" in the Hague. Within these confined concrete walls the four young boys found out there mutual interests; sex, hard liquor and amphetamines. The only way to achieve their goals (getting fucked up) was starting a band; a glamrock band called Stiletto. They stole their equipment by letting Richie (high on some homemade meth from Tunus) slam a stolen car through the window of a guitar shop called Marshallworld. It broke his nose. The band started to rehearse at a local studio called SPOD that, up to this day, never got paid for the rent and "borrowed" gear. In the period 1984 - 1991 Dominatör was able to play a few shows and record some songs in-between the drinking, snorting and Maartens "love cravings" but it wasnt until 1992 when the band started to step up; Artur (age 21) entered the band. Well, actually he entered Tunus' laboratory looking for a supply of quality XTC. Artur was a well known pillen-dealing gabbertje in a rundown part of town who got persuaded by the guys into taking up his old Flying-V that he, in a frenzy, swore never to touch again after hearing the album; ...And justice for all by his childhood heroes - Metallica, a few years earlier. Artur switched his Aussie for a pink catsuit and a pair of high heels which the band still wore at that time and started to work on some new material. With the transformation into a five-piece and the change in style that Artur brought, the band decided to drop the make-up and switch its name into Dominatör, taken from the Human Resource track that the guys repeatedly heard at a discotheque called Parkzicht were they satisfied their appetite for chemicals. The chemistry (synthetically and/or between the band members) seemed to work; Richie (drums) and Tunus (bassguitar) laid down a rigid foundation for Artur (leadguitar) and Mark (leadguitar) to spit out their riffs. Maarten (vocals) finished it off by screaming his lyrics (all concerning his problems in relationships) on top of this mix between Slayer, Metallica, Celtic Frost and Mötley Crüe that formed into something now known as mid 90's metalcore. After doing a stadium tour for two years straight the guys came home with more problems than before; Mark followed his mothers footsteps and became a fulltime Hollandia-lurking parkhanger, Richie served time for running over a policeman (he broke his nose during the pursuit) and Maarten got arrested for giving his "love" to a stranger. When, in 2000, Richie and Maarten were released and Mark sobered up as much as possible, Dominatör was formed again. Financially backed by Tunus and Arturs booming pharmaceuticals company the band was able to record 4 songs for a split CD with the now defunct hardcoreband Among the Living. This recording got picked up by an A&R manager from Crashlanding Records which released it in 2004. Since then the band is doing well; playing their infamous energetic, aggressive shows throughout the Netherlands, ranging from little shitholes to established venues like 't Paard, Melkweg and Nighttown. More recently Dominatör visited the Hans Mulder Studio in the Hague together with handscenestars - The Rocco's and top act arena rockers - Malle Pietje and the Bimbo's (formerly known as Malle Pietje en de Bimbo's). Despite the distractions a group effort like this one brings, each bands somehow managed to recorded some songs, which will be released in the near future on a 3-way split 12" by Motorwölf Records. Currently, Dominatör is working hard on new material for a full-length album that should be recorded in the spring of 2007...-----------------------------------------------------
