Boyana Walsh was born in Smolyan - a gorgeous little town in the mountains of Bulgaria. A place where even air tastes like music!...................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ .................................................At a very early age Boyana moved with the family to a bigger town in the North-East of the country, where her father is from - right by the romantic Blue Danube river. This is where she grew up – the city of Rousse...................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ .......She was bound to fall in love with music, since both her parents were music teachers. Boyana started playing the piano at the age of 6, but that didn't go too far. She also played at school musicals where her acting and singing abilities were noticed very soon (for the first time at the age of 6). Hence she was given the main roles in every single show!....................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ..........................She later attended an English language school, where other activities took over the singing and the acting for a while. She took an interest in literature, poetry, theater, psychology and foreign languages (Boyana is fluent in Bulgarian, English and Russian and is also in the process of learning Spanish).................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ........................ However, she never lost interest in music and her dreams remained that way orientated. She started singing in her first band at the age of 16 that played exclusively original music in Rock and Pop style for a short while. Once in the music scene, Boyana was noticed and was invited to join another band from the same town but this time of professional musicians. That happened after her very first appearance on local stage. This is when she realised that she had a gift, but that she had a lot of work to do. She started taking lessons with a well known local vocal coach and also a studio engineer. Soon Boyana became the studio’s part-time backing vocalist and recorded backing vocals for many European popular musicians, and to this day backing and harmonising are a great passion of Boyana’s.................................................. ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ........................She continued studying with some of the finest musicians in Bulgaria. She rushed through a bass guitar period and took lessons in music theory with Stayko Staykov and later, in Cape Town, with South Africa’s legendary jazz musician Mike Perry....................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ........................She has travelled a lot as a performer and has already worked with a great number of excellent musicians all over the world. She made particularly long professional stops in the UAE, South Africa, Hong Kong and also performed at hotels in South Korea and Turkey (the last one being today’s favourite destination for Boyana)..................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ........................... Today Boyana continues immersed in the world of music with particular interest in Soul, Funk, Jazz and Blues music...but more than anything else, she is in love with her husband Matthew. This is whom she gains great strength and inspiration from. One day, when she feels ready, she will also let you hear her own music.
