Prometheum was conceived in early 2008 in Janurary/February time by guitarist Amenhotep and former singer James Hardwick. They would meet weekly every Sunday to write and record whatever felt natural and sounded cool and were heavily influenced by such bands as Mnemic, Soilwork and Threat Signal. After having written something, they would present it to their other guitarist at the time -Matthew Crouch- and get him to learn it but unfortunately, Crouch did not seem as interested in writing metal.
As the months progressed, so did Prometheum's sound and they went for a darker, heavier approach with each song. By the summer time they had recruited guitarist David Anderson and begun to write more music that was more death metal and therefore more comfortable. Soon after Anderson joined, drummer Joe Smith became part of Prometheum and the band started to become more serious. Roughly after 3 months, Anderson and the rest of the band felt that he wasn't suited for the type of music they wanted to play so felt it best for him to depart. However, shortly after leaving guitarist Malvern joined the fold and has proved to be an extremely valuable asset to the band. Since being a part of Prometheum, the band have written three songs and are still writing even more.
Alas, come mid December the band decided to let James go for reasons that were purely professional and not at all personal. Shortly following that, Vern decided to depart for reasons that were both out of his and the bands control.
Now into 2009 with their sound set it stone and the addition of guitarist Mordreth, frontman Xysor and bass player Annatar, they continue to write as material as possible for their first E.P and first live performances. Music shall be posted once it has been recorded.
Until then, stay in touch and stay evil...
