About Me

If someone were to offer you free passes to a movie... but you had to choose between a thoughtful drama, rich in character development and plot. Or a fearless action flick laced with jerky humor and loads of gore... well, if your the type of person that would choose the action movie, then you should definitely check out THE BEAN MEN. Anarchy reins supreme in the world of THE BEAN MEN. Both cute and horrible. Just like us, they often can be witnessed violently attacking each other with little remorse... they come in a variety of personalities and temperaments like us as well. At it's core THE BEAN MEN is a simple gag comic. It's updated 6 times a week, Sat. thru Thurs. You can find THE BEAN MEN at http://thebeanmen.com/. It's a very violent comic, often pointless, occasionally funny, and every once in a blue moon can have a deeper meaning. You never know what your gonna get with THE BEAN MEN. Hell, I never know what I'm gonna get with it. I rarely have to think too much when I'm working on it, It's almost as if I go into a trance, and they write themselves. Typically it takes me an hour or two to complete each page, but some of the more complex ones have taken 3 or 4.The only set rule I've made for it, is that it will feature a bean man in every page. I don't follow any kind of ongoing storyline. For the most part, each one is a stand-alone page. Although a few have spilled over to 3 or 4 pages. Now this doesn't mean that there will never be some kind longer tale told, but this is how it is for now. The first bean men comic was made in the form of a 24 hour comic in April of 2005...This was before they were even known as "bean men" . I started calling them that in my sketch books simply because I always begin with a simple bean shape when I set out to draw them...the name seemed to fit. So, Feb. 3, 2006 saw the debut of THE BEAN MEN webcomic. It all started with my effort to "Keep up with the Jones's"... other cartoonist friends of mine had started their own webcomics...so, I felt I should start one too. It is primarily a comic of course, but it's not limited to only comics. THE BEAN MEN have made appearances as animated clips, sculptures, and most recently an interactive game. Although it will continue to be a comic, I plan to take advantage of what can be done with the Internet from time to time. When people ask me to explain what THE BEAN MEN are exactly. I'll typically sell it as "zany gore"... I have done pages that have some obvious pop culture or entertainment references. More often they're made up of my impulses, my thoughts.... I would never behave in the manner the beans do, but they're definitely some kind of a reflection of who I am. I just tap into the entity that's already there inside me.
