What is it about Nightwish that makes them so unique? It could be the lyrics. The lyrics expressing so many different realities. The innocent lyrics of Angels Fall First, the fantasy lyrics of Oceanborn, the dark, seductive lyrics of Wishmaster, the self-destructive lyrics of Century Child, the brightful lyrics of Once and the mysterious lyrics of Dark Passion Play. Nightwish are humans. They have gone through a lot of phases in their lives and this is expressed in their songs. Songs especially written by keyboarder Tuomas Holopainen, who, manly enough, had the power to create this everlasting beauty of Nightwish.
Nightwish have a music which is complex and simple at the same time. This is a part of their uniqueness. Simple melodies that transform into complex pieces of art, added to choirs, orchestras and heavy guitars. The music reflects all possible human feelings, possibly all combined in one song. Anyone that respects music can get shivers from the beauty of the melodies springing out from human hands, hearts and minds.
But is it only the music and the lyrics that make Nightwish unique..? No. It is their always obvious HUMANITY. They have always reminded us that they are people with values, feelings and even problems. They have never pretended to be metal divas. They have always shared everything with the fans, showing that they really love what they do. Their job is their hobby. And they are a group of friends doing what they like. They have fun. That is why we have fun too. We love them. But most of all, we respect them.
