About Me

Origin: 1400–50; late ME legerdemeyn, lygarde de mayneWe are Legerdemain. There are many other bands named Legerdemain. Fortunately for us, they all SUCK. I came up with the name when I was reading an unauthorized biography ( those are the best kind ) on Hunter S. Thompson. The author coined the word to describe Dr. Thompson's uncanny way of not being able to function properly enough to make sense of his garbled thoughts, but still catch a full tumbler of whiskey falling to the floor using the same hand that knocked it off the table, without spilling a drop. I figured that would be a perfect description for this music that we unravel in front of our audiences, fibers of sonic dissonance, woven together and shredded apart simultaneously, theory thrown hastily into spinning chaos. Of course, Legerdemain is actually a french word, or phrase, " Leger de Main, " from days of old, meaning, " Light of Hand, " or, " Sleight of Hand, " as so it is defined today. There is no room in this band for astute musical pompousness, even Van Halen is better than that. These sounds derive from a more primordial source, intricate as they may sometimes be, and are hammered into shape by five unsuspecting officers of nonsense. So don't be afraid to come up to the front stage when we perform, for we are not afraid to let loose our discordant cacophonies upon you.Salut!

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: Not cool enough yet.
Band Members: Cory - Kreator of Sawdust
Ray - Victor Wooten in a Blender
Jay - Sicks String Sushi Synapses, Jeff Walker Texas Ranger
Jean-Louis - Mixolydian Asthma Attacks, Burton C. Bellbottoms
Influences: We need not list what groups please us, only what stokes the fires of our inspiration, and that is the severe lack of impression most metal bands are having on us in these foul years of disposable heroes . We are propelled by the mysticism unbeknownst to the masses who cloud their vision with bastardized tastelessness and trounce those who hinder our creative malevolence. We need no acceptance, we need only instruments.
Sounds Like: what happens when you can't shut your alarm clock off because your arms are asleep.
Record Label: Still not cool enough.
Type of Label: Indie
