About Me

Guitar MySpace Layouts - Electric Guitar MySpace Layouts Guitar MySpace Layouts I started playing the Les Paul guitar in 1968.I was on the Peachtree strip Atlanta and The Allman Brothers band was playing for free in the park and I knew I had to have me a Les Paul.I moved to Memphis and was jamming at a music store when Big Sam Clark walked in and said I need a hippie lead guitar player to light a fire in my blues band. The next thing I knew I was at Blues Ally playing with old blues musicians. While there a ton of blues acts that went to the club after thier shows jammed with the Blues Ally Allstars.Memphis Slim came home for a couple of years for his birthday and I got to play with him and his guitarist Mickey Baker lots of times.BB King jammed with us too.and that's just the beginning.Muddy Waters and James Cotton and Mose Alison and The best Boogie Woogie pianist I ever heard Vince Weber from Hamburg Germany.I took off with him and went all over the blues nation even Playing at the Legendary Checkerboard club in Chicago with Lefty Dizz and Buddy Guy.Vince had won Europian grammy with a Homesick James song so we paid him a visit and he was happy to meet the man that had been sending royalty checks. When I came back to Memphis I got a gig being the only white guitarist in the CPO which is the Club Paradise Orchestra owned by Sunbeam Mitchell who owned the original Club Handy on Beale St.I opened for and jammed with most of the acts including the Count Basie Orchestra. One thing all those clubs had in common was a lousy sound systems and I was an audio file person really in to quality sound so I put my sound system in many clubs in Memphis including the Antenna club where I did sound for bands playing the new music of the 80's.I went on the road as a sound man for more bands than I have time to mention. It would be harder than naming all the blues icons that came through the Cub Paradise. Now after all this time I'm thinking comeback after being sick for a while. That's my story and I'm sticking with it
