About Me

Born before 1960. I will no longer be shy about how long before then -- 1958. I'll just add I've been through the 1960's when as a child I thought that people on the news naturally got shot by an assasins. Wished I could have been old enough to go to Woodstock (or that my parents would have allowed me to travel there - but I understand that I was only 9 yrs. old) I loved and survived the 1970's!, hated disco in the 1980's but loved punk and alternative! Saw R.E.M. and the B-52's in Athens, Ga. "The 40 Watt Club"!, shamelessly indulged myself with grunge in the nineties, and no longer care which genre of music (except for that crap generated in the studio for the likes of Brittany Spears and the ones that are wannabe's like the "boy bands". That type of so-called P0PMusic® sounds awful if you've ever heard them without the heavy studio tweaking due to their collective lack of talent! (no offense intended - just my listening to that makes me want to mute my ears permanently)... I try to write. Prose. Poetry. Music. Essays. I said I try, but I do know everyone has talent. I've been published a few times and actually made some money a couple of times but unforntunately I've been having a long streak of writer's block. I lost my mother in Jan. 2008 so now a year has passed some of the writer's block has started to lift gradually. Very gradually I admit. Being a "religious" person isn't my type of thing for it implies doing things the same way as if in a ritual mindset. Once again following "sheep" from men/women who interpret in their own minds - not necessarily the true meanings of the gospels. I am on the spiritual level. Studied Buddhism (Tibetan) with Lama Kunga Choedak back in 1995-97. He actually found me again here on MySpace! I will not forget that I am still on the right road and follow the path I've learned. I dropped the Southern Baptist - then Church of God conversion I had in the 80's it worked for a few years then got strange: ever have men pray over the engine of your car that wouldn't start after a "Revival" where the Minister had already jumped upon the communion table, did the Elvis Presley thing of taking his suit coat and throwing into the congregation? -- um, no don't tell me if you have! I began to balance between the teachings of Jesus, and the the teachings of the Buddha. They are similar in tone and not nearly as filled with dogma as the more structured "religions". Whenever a war is fought in the name of "God" I am SO turned off! Whenever a war is fought I am a complete pacifist. Yet I admit that as much as I detest war, I do support the women and men who go to places they are sent...no matter where or why. They are sent more often than not by men who sit behind desks and never know what the heck they are doing. Some of them act as if they know what war is just because they shot rubber bands at each other across in the Oval Office during meetings! Maybe they play "Risk" or "Operation" too?!? My sense of humour is often described as dry, sharp, sarcastic and sometimes just silly. I have to keep a sense of humour for survival and love. My heart is and will remain an open space for my fellow man. No matter what some people may see as an "issue". "Issues" are not a part of compassion or empathy. Life is a wonderful experience and none are perfect. So laugh, love, and keep yourself non-judgemental. (if at all humanly possible) I love everyone to the best ability human nature allows. I try to find the best in the most hateful/mean-spirited people I meet. Disarm them with listening and not speaking! Peace, Love and Understanding? Sounds a bit naive but above all this, I believe LOVE makes every aspect of human flaws and misunderstandings reconciliatory.
