About Me

Arriving on the scene in 2006, a group of talented, young Hip Hop activist decided to unite and create Sunz Of Nat. Now many people really don't understand where the term comes from. The name Sunz Of Nat is a very unique name created by Chairman Jabari of Solvivaz Nation combined with help from his comrade Sundiata. The Sun represents the sun in sky. It is the sun that warms the earth and gives life to all of nature. The N.A.T acronym stands for New Afrikan Teachers. The Sunz Of N.A.T are the light of the youth that has been dimmed by poverty, drug use, crime, racism, and any other situation that could have hindered their growth. They serve as the voice of Black youth and Hip Hop.Sunz Of N.A.T are not alone on their messages of Black Unity and communal growth, they come from a organization called Solvivaz Nation that is grounded in all these values. An older group was formed before Sunz Of Nat in the organization to lay a beginning fan base for Sunz Of Nat. Jabari, Sundiata, and Andwele, three barbers/activists created a Hip Hop trio called Conscious Heads. With no former history of rapping or producing, they teamed up with local producers who worked with them in the studio to create a powerful project they named "Unify Or Die The Album". This album took conscious Tubman City (Baltimore, MD) by storm as everyone was raving about the messages of Black unity, history, life, and community which were carefully molded into powerful songs. They were interviewed by Rona March who worked for the City paper to be included in the paper. This also helped to develop their fan base and name as a whole. Although the album was a classic, the group soon came to a close and paved a way for Sunz Of Nat. The two groups created a classic mix tape called "Living & Dying In A Warzone Called Amerikkka Volume 1" which was probably the best mix tape created in Tubman City in the year 2006. The project can be purchased at 219 E. 25th Street, Baltimore Maryland. You can also place a phone order at 410-889-0477. Or online at realityspeaksbookstore.comConsisting of 5 members, L.A.(Lil Afrika), Ra (Sun Of God), Antiquity( One Take), TMC (Ture), and Ka (life giving energy), the Sunz of N.A.T has helped promote thought provoking music to uplift Black people. All growing up in Tubman City (Baltimore, Maryland), they know and understand the struggle of Black people. Understanding this struggle, they have decided to make music with a REAL message instead of what showed on music videos or played on radio stations. They have put a new face on Conscious Hip Hop. With songs like Fuck Tha Police, No Education No Life, BGE (Big Gangsta Enterprise), Katrina, Politricks and many more, they have changed the game entirely. "No more will we take this bull shit they give to us, we are the change, love it or hate it" is what member Lil Afrika had to say when interviewed at one of Solvivaz Nation's events. All under 25, these young warriors have definetly put a new face on conscious music. It is hard to find Black youth willing to make a positive change in their communities.
