" DIERECTION Biografhy-Dierection started on august 2005 , as a three(3) men band. Everything was going fine, we had three songs already finished, the name of the band, and some places that wanted us to play.So knowing that, we put our hearts and everything that we had into it,making more songs,practicing,doing as much gigs as possible,to grow more and more...A wailing guitar, thumping bass line and pounding backbeat make up the Christian heavy metal rock of Dierection. But while there's plenty of fire in their sound, the group's three members say listeners won't find any brimstone in the lyrics."Our songs are about everyday life," says Pew Schmidt, guitarist and lead vocalist for the Boca Raton-based band.Of course, a dose of faith is injected in the music. "But we don't push it," Schmidt insists. "We don't force it on people. I don't go up on stage and say if you don't accept Jesus, you're going to hell. We try to show people God loves you the way you are, with our own language." Schmidt says the band gets to play the style of music they love while staying true to themselves."We like to play heavy metal and reach people who listen to heavy metal," he explains. "But we don't deny we're Christians." Pew Schmidt, bassist Anderson Santiago and drummer Aquila Correia have been finding fans and fighting misconceptions since forming in August 2005."Sometimes if you say you're a Christian band, people think you only play in church," Schmidt says. "That's not true. We play at lots of different places," including clubs and skate parks.The trio came up with the name Dierection because it combines the idea of Jesus dying on the cross with their belief in his resurrection. For added effect, they shaped the "t" in their name like a crucifix.The group is putting together their first EP with eight original songs. Their plan is to follow in the footsteps of influential Christian rock recording artists like POD and Pillar, Schmidt says.........
