Instinct, skill, style, the dedication of a monk and a strong work ethic; These are the building blocks of a special Dj , these are the foundations of Jean Pierre. This New York to Memphis transplant can only be described as the "Wonder Kid." He is the child of creativity and destiny's marriage, and he is destroying dancefloor's from his native country of Colombia where he began his career,to his new home in Memphis and into the minds of anyone lucky enough to catch a glimpse of his talent. His rythmic blend of tribal and progressive house with a sprinkle of electro is not only original its refreshing in a world full of soundalike Dj's.
Born and raised in Queens, NY, Jean Pierre was surrounded by musical diversity and culture. He began his musical journey when he made his first trip to colombia in 1999. During this trip it was when he was introduced to techno. He began attending the local clubs and raves of Cali and instantly fell in love with this revolutionary sound that would change is life forever. He began djing soon afterward and after recieving some attention from his peers, he pursued it even more. Little by little he created a following and decided to stay in Colombia for a period of 2 years.
After the 2 year mark he decided he wanted more and his own ambition pushed him to move back home where he can take his music to the next level. He began perfoming in private parties in NY but no big opportunity arrose until he met Mark Anderson, the entertainment director of a prestigious nightclub in Memphis, TN.
In 2004, Mark Anderson offered him the residency of a nightclub like no other in Memphis, TN. He became the resident of the only nightclub in Memphis, where tribal and
electro beats could be heard and has a created an enormous following in a city where he was told that electronic music was non-existant. As a result of this exclusive show, Senses Nightclub, is now the most exclusive nightclub in the Mid-South of the United States.
2005 was one of the biggest turning points in Jean Pierre's life and career when he decided to form an electronic music based company, called LA NOCHE. His whole idea behind this company was to create a music label for his musical productions, but he decided why stop there. He began promoting events in his home town and abroad including Colombia under the La Noche logo. He began to establish the idea that LA NOCHE will not only be a music label, but a booking agency for up and coming artists, and a promoting company, which he plans to use to promote events all over the world. He teamed up with a close personal friend that lives in South America to form the two existing international divisions of LA NOCHE; NORTH AMERICA AND SOUTH AMERICA.
This year was also the year where he began to recieve attention not only as a DJ but as a producer as well. He released his first single "Out of Nowhere" under Memphis's own Mid-South Remixers. Out of Nowhere received international attention by both clubbers and DJs alike.
In 2006, Jean Pierre accomplished more then he ever imagined, from the builiding of his own personal studio, to numerous tour dates organized by himself and his company. He began touring through Mexico, Ecuador,and Colombia playing alongside up and coming artists such as David Ordonez, B-Con, JuanTrack, Angel Rodriguez, and numerous others. La Noche organized the first latin american tour of italian superstar, Luca Ricci, promoting his new album, Aenaria Tribal. It was a 5 city tour that ran through the cities of Guayquil, Quito, Cuenca, Bogota, and Girardot. Jean Pierre performed alongside this incredible artist during this magical journey.
Upon returning from his extensive tour dates in South America, he began to build his radio following by creating his own radio show, through www.lforadio.com , which aired every Wednesday from 8- 10 CST.
After the abrupt cancellation of his LA NOCHE Residency at Senses Nightclub in Memphis, Jean Pierre believed it was time to come back home to NYC. He is currently going to school at SAE (WWW.SAENY.COM)for audio engineering. He believes that this is the next step to take his music to bigger and more global stage.
Jean Pierre definetly has his hands full in 2009 from going to school part-time at SAE NY, to constantly working in the studio doing edits and remixes, to organizing his new LA NOCHE PODCAST that will include guest DJs from around the world, and also preparing himself for his busy DJ schedule in the coming months, Jean Pierre's meteoric rise into the scene can only be attributed to the unbriddled passion he possesses for his craft. His love for music moves him in every way imaginable. He lives, dreams, and breathes music. He states that it is the only thing in his life that keeps him truly happy. Jean Pierre is not just another player in the game, he is progressing in the unique role he will surely fill at the top echelon of DJing.
