The YAKATAKS

About Me

Yaks' Event

Presenting a new chapter in North London’s illustrious music scene, a gig night featuring the best new bands the area has to offer in a compact and affordable format at an intimate venue! Click image below for more info:

The Music

A hard hitting fusion of heavy baselines, foot-stomping beats, quirky guitar melodies and irrepressible vocals - The Yakataks never fail to energize their audience with their trademark sound, best described as "disco-punk"

The Band

Formed in June 2008 shortly after the break up of Rob & Jools’ former band, a softcore indie/rock n roll outfit called Telecomandos. Italian bass Maestro – Kekko formerly of Michelle, who was sleeping on Rob's couch at the time stepped up (by the scruff of the neck) and The YAKATAKS were born!

The boys struck up a strong writing partnership straight away - all that was needed was for Rob to rouse metronome monkey Jools, & lure him to their backwater flat in East London with the promise of a Big Mac or two, and the franchise was complete!

My Interests

Music:

Band Members:
Rob Pearson

The living definition of a real character: self-styled, Bradford born Rob Pearson is as boisterous, loud and unashamedly Northern as lead singers get
In his long and varied career he’s written everything from 'meat and two veg' Rock 'n' Roll, to deep, melodramatic singer/songwriter stuff, produced UK garage, hip hop, fronted funk rock and rock n roll bands before finally setting up shop in Indie-Pop-Punk Street, where he now resides
Far from being just a gifted writer and front-man - Rob is the non-stop, energising, driving-force behind The Yakataks; highly motivated from the outset, he lets nothing stand between him and having his vision realised
Jools Glassford

Besides banging out the beats, North London born and bread drummer, Jools, is the band’s Murray Hewitt (every band should have one!). Bringing organisation and focus, if Rob’s the one with his foot on the pedal then Jools is the guy with his hands firmly on the wheel!
Quiet and unassuming, Jools is a clean cut, well grounded guy but is definitely a dark horse - Rob describes him as a "sick man", high praise indeed..
Francesco Preto

A warm and enthusiastic young fella from Vicenza, Italy - Kekko brings tasty melodic baselines delivered with a healthy portion of force to the table and is the Yin to Rob’s Yang both on and off stage
While Rob and Jools concern themselves with driving the thing Kekko, having a typically Italian work ethic & being the more "laid back" of the bunch, has his head out the back window enjoying the wind through his hair!- He's just happy to sit back & enjoy the ride..
