The story of FABrik RECordS....
Ireek Sofakia, a local fabric merchant here in Toronto became tired of peddling around town with his fabric samples so he had the idea of starting a record label peddling music from all of his fave local bands. Rather than spending gobs and gobs of money on packaging for the CD's he used old fabric swatches and other found goodies to get the music out there.
His vision for his newly formed record company called FABRik RECordS: to create a totally vertical, self sufficient independant record label with a group of musicians and artists dedicated to themselves and their fans.
To raise money for production Ireek aka: eEk, would team up with his friend The Skip aka: Candice to throw parties entitled "FUnhUnT" (named after an old Richard Hell song that he so loves) at his house the notorious Casa Muerte Academy of Sciences feat: his friends The FABRik RECordS Label bands.
After the first FUnhUnT, FABRik was able to raise over 140 bucks thanks to all of those who came out for great live music in a much beloved house party setting. Now eEk along with his FABRik/FUnhUnT team are starting to work on a series of Indie Compilation CD's due to reach the public late July 08 feat:ALPHABOT ROY LIEBERMAN KALEIDOSCOPE CITY OSCAR BROWN LA CASA MUERTE BOXES AND BAGS STILL LIFE STILL THE MILES ANNA SUDAC CHOCOLATE SUNSHINE (Detroit, MI) and ABORTED AMBITION (Chicago, IL) ..
