Soooo.....Grassroots Festival 2008! After taking a year off to galavant around the country, the Grassroots Team are once again putting on a festival for all who want to come along for the ride. It's being held just outside of Peterborough on the weekend of the 5th - 7th of September and it's looking like its gonna be a wicked weekend in a field.
Tickets are on sale nowwwwwwww! Early bird tickets are on sale now and are £30 for adults (16 and over), and £15 for children (10-15 yrs), which includes on-site camping. Under 10's get free entry and a free smile on the door. The early bird prices last until the 31st of July when the price goes up to £40. Tickets can be bought from the website http://www.thegrassrootsfestival.co.uk via Paypal, or, if you live in or around Peterborough, from The Glass Onion on Burghley Road. Whilst being slightly bigger than in 2006, this years festy will still only have a capacity of 500 people, so you'll know pretty much everyone on site by the end of the weekend. :)
Providing musical diversity of an astronomical scale, all the stages at Grassroots 2008 are going to be chock full of frequencies to twist, soothe, assault and vibrate your eardrums respectively. :) The Freedom stage (main stage) will have live music ranging from dub to metal, folk to hip-hop, and stuff that just defies Genreification. Taking care of the other side of live music, 'The Troubadour Stage' will feature acoustic acts from far and wide, coming to share their music and their vibe. We are So so lucky to have over thirty absolutely amazing unsigned & signed acoustic artists and check this… Sony have released a recent special signing to the Troubadour for Grassroots, This Is Unmissible!!.
GrassRoots 2008 will host 2 electronic music stages: The Playpen and The Circuit-Tree, each providing a plethora of beats, beeps and digga-digga's. Wanting to cater for all tastes of electronic music, both stages will be churning out flipped out frequencies and resonatory...........resonances. The Playpen will be serving up the danncefloor side of things with various bits of Pychedelic music, Drum 'n Bass, Breaks, Deep/Tech-House, Hard Dance........Whilst it’s sister stage The Circuit Tree will be covering the Techno, Breakcore, IDM, Ambient and Dubbier side of things.
The Irie Stylie bods are festival veterans, having traversed the country and this year their coming to GrassRoots! Hosting a lush cafe serving vegan and vegetarian food (being cooked by the power of GraySkull!.....i mean, the Sun.), an open-mic stage, and lovely vibes. We're really chuffed to have the Irie Stylie family coming to GrassRoots.
Another surprise at this years festy will be The Drawing Room. Which is exactly what it says it is, themed in a victorian/burlesque stylee. Throughout the weekend there'll be jam sessions, the 'jazz hour' and loads more. Check the website for more info.
One of the additions that Grassroots are most chuffed about is the 'Grasshopper Area'. A place for the kids to have as much fun as the adults! Parents will be able to bring their children and take part in various games and workshops.
There will also be the Breathe Easy healing area to soothe and relax mind, body and soles/souls. There'll be Reike, Indian Head massage and Sound Therapy as well as other healing area. There will also be a few stalls selling nice festy stuff.
For full line-ups for all the stages check the website it’s wicked!!
