Pernell Roberts

Pernell Roberts was born on May 18, 1928 in Waycross, Georgia. He was known as the handsome quiet boy. He is 6'1". He worked as a butcher, tomb-stone maker, and even a forest ranger before he began acting. He in started on and off broadway shows. He is now 80 yrs old and lives in California. He is retired from acting. In school he swam and played basketball. When he was in his 30s he learned how to play the gutair and even made his own solo album called, "Come All Ye Fair and Tender Ladies", he liked singing folk songs best. In 1955 he won a Dramatic Critics Award for Best Actor. He was later nominated for an emmy award in 1981 for outstanding lead actor. He is most famous for his roles in Bonanza as ben cartwright's eldest son Adam Cartwright and Trapper John, MD as cheif surgeon Trapper John (dr. macIntyre). He has guest appeared in many other shows and was in many movies. He was an only child and was married three times. He had a son with his first wife [Vera-a college professor at WSU] named, Jonathon Christopher Roberts born in 1951. His son died though in a motorcycle accident at only 38yrs of age in 1989. :( he also later married kara knack and judith roberts. His full name is Pernell Elvin Roberts Jr. He was born to Betty and Pernell Roberts. He flunked out of college three times, before he began acting. He left Bonanza in 1965. :( He has dark hair and brown eyes. He loved riding motorcycles. He is the only original bonanza cast member still living. He wore a hair piece in Bonanza, which he didnt like. He also thought the show was racist and sexist. He also didnt like calling Lorne's character "Pa". He later regrets leaving the show though. He says he is never satisfied with his own work. Through it all he is one of my favorite actors and i love him! I have a whole folder filled with things all about him and a nice glossy picture. Im only 14yrs old and i am in love with the man. i make youtube videos under the name luvleegurlee01 and i have just about every episode he's in recorded. i use his pictures as a book mark in every book i read and i have a pic of him on my regular myspace. he is my idol! i know his address and i wish i had the nerve to write to him and tell him all of this. this is why i made the fan site, because i also know there are more people like me who love him too. maybe not as much as i do, but they support him being who he is and love him as an actor. please add to me!
