About Me

What is there to say? If I'm not dragging my wearied body though YET another day of mind and back-breaking sheer living hell (barwork, to the layman), I'm summoning the demons of bass guitar in Edinburgh band s a l u t e Mary (check Top Friends). Prior to that (and currently, on occasion) I was mad-scientisting my bedroom way on Punishing Beats in Retro Tech via my Dead Headphones side project* (check Top Friends). Prior to that is another story for another occasion, youngster..

*Calling it a 'project', even 'side project' is abject flattery. Lacking a suitable English noun, such as 'bollocks' or 'company-deprived-tech-wank', I'm going to go with the Italians and call it a 'cazzata'. It's more elegant that way.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Steve Albini [caustic, bilious antigenius behind BIG BLACK, RAPEMAN, SHELLAC and producer extraordinaire]
* SHELLAC - SQUIRREL SONG
.. .. ..>
Guy Picciotto [hyperactive limb-flailing and screwed-up-jazz riffery in RITES OF SPRING and FUGAZI]
* FUGAZI - DO YOU LIKE ME
.. .. ..>
Jason Farrell [mastermind of BLUETIP and RETISONIC, looks a bit like Chris Isaak..]
* RETISONIC - K16
.. .. ..>
Tim Harrington [portly beardyman in LES SAVY FAV, climbs PAs, I've seen it..]
* LES SAVY FAV - WE'LL MAKE A LOVER OF YOU

lp review - BATTLES / MIRRORED

I love this album. It's great. It has the necessary heaviosity and complexity that appeal to me. The thing is, it just reminds me of a slightly less-practised Don Caballero.OK, there we go. I can't ho...
