I am a Los Angeles based Film/TV composer.
My official IMDb credtis list can be found at www.imdb.com/name/nm1335434/ .
My official website is located at www.brianralston.com .
And my official bio (at the moment) is the following:
Brian Ralston, an award winning, classically trained composer and conductor, has quickly established himself as one of the younger up and coming film composers in Hollywood. He composed the score for the gripping independent feature 9/Tenths, for which Brian a Gold Medal for Best Music in a Feature Film at the 2007 Park City Film Music Festival. 9/Tenths is directed by Bob Degus (Pleasantville) and starring Gabrielle Anwar (Scent of A Woman, The Three Muskateers) and Henry Ian Cusick ("Lost", Half Light). In 2006, Brian was also chosen to be the composer for the Magnolia Pictures teen heist movie GRADUATION, starring Adam Arkin, Chris Marquette and Chris Lowell. Brian is also an award winning producer, having produced the 35mm short film THE RECE!PT for which Brian also provided the musical score. THE RECE!PT won the "Best Comedy Award" at the largest short film festival in the world, the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival 2005, the "Best Short Audience Award" at the 25th Breckenridge Festival Of Film 2005 and the "Gold Medal for Excellence" for Brian's score at the Park City Film Music Festival. Brian is also the winner of an Aurora Award for his score to THE RECE!PT. The Aurora Awards are a film and video entertainment industry award judged by a jury of ones peers. THE RECE!PT, which screened around the world on the festival circuit, was one on an elite list of short films eligible for Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences consideration for the Oscar® award for best live action short film in 2005.
Brian studied film music composition and conducting at the University of Arizona under film/TV composer Jeff Haskell. This mentor relationship with Haskell allowed Brian to assist him in many on-going projects while at the University of Arizona, including the recording of Linda Ronstadt's Christmas album Merry Little Christmas in 2000. Brian has composed musical scores for numerous independent films and projects. In 2002, Brian completed graduate level work in the Scoring for Motion Pictures & Television program at the University of Southern California. He has studied with Christopher Young, Elmer Bernstein, David Raksin, Joe Harnell, Jack Smalley, George Burt, David Spear, Steven Scott Smalley and the late Buddy Baker. Brian has composed additional orchestral underscore for the 20th Century Fox Television series "Angel" (1999/I) (exec. prod. Joss Whedon). In 2002, Brian began a long collaborative effort working on the staged musical SnEauX! - The New Sinsational Gothic Figure Skating Musical (dir. Andy Fickman, starr. Kristen Bell), where he served as orchestrator & arranger and composed the musical underscore. Sneaux! was nominated for six LA Weekly Theatre Awards including "Best Musical 2003". Recently, Brian collaborated with the Los Angeles based rock band BORNE on their new self titled album, where he not only arranged the horn and orchestral string parts, but he played trumpet and flugelhorn on the album as well. Among numerous projects on the horizon, Brian will continue his collaboration with writer / director Bob Degus in 2008.
