Chantal Santos brought up in B.C. Canada
had her first encounter with Jazz when she was just thirteen years old. during an evening out at “La Bussolaâ€, one of Italy’s most revered music venues, she was coaxed on stage to perform “summertime†having never heard it before. On the strength of her performance the manager of the venue offered her a residency.She went on to perform at Jazz festivals, music venues, clubs and top hotels throughout Italy, Canada and the UK.=================================================Chantal has drawn much media and press attention with her original piece Devil May Care, penned alongside pianist Matthew Lucas which was the top finalist, for the Devil May Care book by Sebastian Faulks.=================================================
She has had the honour of jamming alongside great British vocalists Tina May and Anita Wardell as well as acclaimed drummer Stephen Keogh and guitarist Garrison Fewell. Chantal’s classic repertoire of Jazz and Blues standards includes a sizzling hot rendition of “Feverâ€, the heart searching Bossa Nova “Dindi†by Antonio Carlos Jobim and many other romantic ballads and up-tempo swing numbers (All of Me, Moon Glow, Tea For Two), Blues (Black Coffee, Stormy Weather) and Latin Jazz favourites (Corcovado, Girl From Ipanema, Black Orpheus)=================================================In the past Chantal has collaborated with a number of Italian radio and television companies both writing and performing jingles and voice-overs for adverts and documentaries.She has also appeared in various comic and dramatic roles both on stage and on television.
=================================================She is regularly accompanied by a stable of very talented musicians including Guitarist Charles Alexander, Dble Bass Player Jonny Gee, Pianist Matthew Lucas and trio P.V.M. consisting of guitarist Simone Pascarella, bassist Mirko Verrengia and drummer Gabriele Mastroianni.

Her torchy tune, also titled Devil May Care, was selected out of morethan 500 international entries for the Penguin Books promotion.RADIO NEWS:You can hear Chantel And The Dry Martinis song played CBC Radio 1 on Monday morning around 8am (Pacific Time) on a show called "On the Island"
