About Me

Bienvenidos a Lucha Bonita Estudio!
Coming back to Los Angeles after two years of being based in London, England.. touring the world.. making records.. playing guitar for a living in front of over 2 million people (not all at once).. following extensive (and often grueling) promotional schedules.. and overall taking in many incredible experiences - it felt good to be home.
I had the idea before I ever left London of turning my narrow "single-car" garage into a writing/recording studio. I started to plan it out in my head.. and on the pages of my notebook. I wanted to stay within a certain budget.. didn't exactly do that. I recruited my friend Chris Torres, who had recently become a licensed contractor, to help me with realizing my vision. We worked for weeks.. making many trips to Home Depot. We made good progress. I had a giant garage sale, selling and giving away most of the crap that had taken up the entirety of cubic space. Thank you to the City of Los Angeles for providing "bulky item" pickups free of charge! If you can get it to the curb.. they'll take it away.. awesome.
Fast forward.. I painted the place - choosing the same soft color as the "moisture-resistant" drywall we had purchased by mistake (it's more expensive), that I had become attached to.. it has a nice calm about it.. and when mixed at Home Depot it's called "Secret Garden". Perfect.
Chris installed a killer double glass window for the iso/vocal booth, and I was ready to roll.. or more like I was ready to spend more dough on gear. I also wanted the outside to have a good vibe, so I worked on the garden too. I soon figured out that when you "soundproof" a virtually air-tight studio, using double drywall with an inch space between, and heavy duty moving blankets as insulation between the studs - that your room functions like a thermos, quickly heating up on the inside after 30 minutes of the equipment being turned on. So began the search for air conditioning. Ebay rules. Found a slimline a/c "mini-split" (like a small central system but for just one room) called "Art Cool" by LG. Totally quiet, and cool. Google it.
Since "opening my door" in March, I've been working on several projects including a great singer/songwriter named Natasha, and an exciting new band called Hott Mess. As well, I'm co-writing with my old friend Steve Celi - we had our first band together when we were 12. I've just recorded some cello, played beautifully by Jeff White, for my own Praying Hands album.. mixing that too.
Send me a message if you're interested in making music.
