About Me

Although I was born in Ohio, I spent my formative years (ages 2-18) in the New Orleans area. I have always loved music. My first connection - being able to hear a song and know who was singing it - occurred the day Elvis died. I listened to country music before it was cool, and Steve Wariner became a quick favorite. He's the one I still thank today for my love of music, because I realized through him that I prefer the people that write their own music. He also got me liking the guitar. (I was a clarinet player!) In addition, when I finally got to meet him and get his autograph (when I was 13, a formative age), he was so kind and appreciative. I moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area to attend TCU. Not only did I get a great education from some of the most amazing professors one could ask for, I met other people that love music, and was in an environment where musicians were considered cool! I moved to NC for law and graduate school, clerked for a judge for a year, and then picked up and moved back to Texas. Aside from a year in Vegas (that's a day's worth of stories), I haven't left Texas since graduate school. Given my love of music and learning, and the abundance of good stuff out there, I picked a career that is more fun, more meaningful and fulfilling, and more conducive to travel - that means I stopped practicing law and became a 7th grade world history teacher and coach. My life is very blessed with a great job, wonderful friends, live music about six nights a week, and more hobbies than I have time for.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Lyle Lovett. I actually did meet him very briefly one time, so it's more accurate to say I'd like to have a conversation with him.
