We are Seraph + Splendor, two fallen angels / artists that have landed in Seattle, Washington. Our studio is located in the historic Ballard district (a neighborhood full of gloom and ancient spirits, if one knows where to look…)
Our days and nights are spent creating objects of beauty. We have an extensive background in design and fabrication. Our specialty is our unique style of ornate appliqué which we apply to our pillow, drapery and textile designs. Seraph is also a musician who combines his darkness with primal tones and incantations producing an innovative style of black metal. He is at present recording new material and preparing once again to take the stage.
Currently we are beginning a new series of artwork which explores the shadows which reside in our souls. We have combined our experience with sewing and appliqué with elements of collage, sculpture and alchemy. These decrepit mosaics blend ornate fabrics and found objects with forms and spirits from the forgotten realms. Some are contained within gilded frames and resemble grimoires and books of spells, while others take the form of masks and helms and are poised for a wicked revelry or deadly encounter.
Our studio has become a backdrop to all of our creative endeavors. We have spent much time collecting and placing the ornate and unusual. Our furniture and vignettes have become individual shrines and altars. We gather objects imbued with mystical powers … masks, reliquaries, statues & regalia. We feel the sentience found in portraits, mirrors & vessels…As reclaimers of the lost and cast off, we strive to create a grandeur slightly faded, that becomes ethereal and otherworldly. We enjoy living amongst an ever changing backdrop of decadent opulence…
We look forward to sharing our upcoming projects with you.
A shrine to capture and reveal the intensions of the impure.
A collection of our mystical objects from our cabinet of curiosities.
An ancient stigmata greets you at our door…
Seraph’s full back tattoo has become a true artistic ritual. Inspired by the magnificent European ossuaries and crypts, it has become a tribute to Odin the All Father, and the pantheon of Nordic Gods. The tattoo was created at the hands of expert tattoo artist John Fitzgerald of Slave to the Needle in Seattle and took nearly a year to complete.
