About Me

Opening for Little Texas April 12th 2008 at McMorran Auditorium in Port Huron, MI
Emily has been singing most of her life. She began performing in elementary school and continues to chase her dreams today.
Emily began performing in elementary school participating in two musicals including “Beauty and the Beast” and “Pirates of Penzance”. In Middle School, Emily started entering the school talent shows. In 1996 she entered the 6th grade talent show, also her first talent show, singing “Walking after Midnight” by Pasty Cline taking first place. Then in 1998 she entered the Marysville Middle School “All School Talent Show” and performed “We Danced Anyway” by Deena Carter and tied for 1st place.
In High School Emily enjoyed being part of the Marching and Concert bands, playing the flute. She was the Junior Assistant Section Leader in the 2000-01 Marching Season and Senior Section Leader in the 2001-02 Marching Season for the Flute Section in the Marysville Viking Regiment. She also received the “Most Improved Musician” Award during her Senior Year Band Awards.
As a freshman Emily worked backstage and had a walk on role in the 1999 all school musical “Damn Yankee’s”. In 2000, she was part of the chorus in “Cinderella”. And then in 2001 she held her first lead in an all school musical, Reno Sweeny in “Anything Goes”. In 2002, she was one of three that played the part of the Narrator in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat” along side two good friends Kristy Vargo and Ashley Soule.
In June of 2000, Emily was crowned Junior Miss Lake Huron Shores the same day her sister, Elizabeth, was crowned Miss Lake Huron Shores. She spent that year making appearances with her sister on behalf of the Miss America Organization, and she absolutely fell in love with the Miss America Organization.
After graduating High School in 2002, Emily entered college at St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron, MI. Graduating in May 2008 with two Associates Degree’s in Business and Arts (General Studies). Emily now attends The University of Michigan – Flint to pursue a Bachelors & Masters Degree in Accounting. In hope of one day becoming a C.P.A.
Emily has continued competing in the Miss America Organization for the title of Miss Lake Huron Shores in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007. In 2005, Emily was 2nd Runner Up to Miss Lake Huron Shores, and won the Non-Finalist Talent Awards in 2006 and 2007. Now that she has aged out of the pageant system, she plans to continue her work with the Miss America Organization, volunteering and coaching girls who wish to compete.
Emily also had the opportunity to play in the SC4 Symphonic Band, as well as, sing "They Can't Take That Away From Me" which was written by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin, while the band played as the accompaniment. That is one of her memorable performing experiences to date.
She had the opportunity to compete for the chance to be one of the opening acts for Little Texas! It was an incredible experience and that is when she decided this is what she wanted to do! She has competed in a few local Karaoke Contests, making the semi finals of “Cruisen’ Gratiot Idol” and a finalist in the “Eastside Has Talent” Contest taking 6th place out of 10. Emily loves being on stage and can’t wait for the next big performance!
