Born in 1969 in Tokyo,Tamaya Honda comes from a lineage of
renowned Japanese jazz musician.My father was pianist Takehiro Honda,a towering figure for decades in the world of jazz.My mother, Chiko Honda,is an extremely popular jazz vocalist.Sadao Watanabe, an internationally renowned saxophonist,is my uncle.Surrounded by this background, it was only natural that I started Playing drums while still a child.I was an integral part of the band "Native Son",
led by my father.One of Japan's most popular bands during
the electric era, I took part in numerous recordings and
performances of this group.I has also played or recorded
with luminaries such as Toshiko akiyosi,Junior Mance,Kazumi
Watanabe,Pual Jackson,Ulf Wakenius,Eugene Pao,and Sadao Watanabe.I has also toured internationally with my own groups, appearing as featured artist in major jazz festival
in Asia.
My Leader CD, Planet X, was released in 2000 and is a breath taking synthesis of rock, jazz,and funk music.
As a sideman, I has appeared on over 25CDs.I also an accomplished composer.sleeping kitty
