www.HugMeTees.Com was started by two brothers who wanted to give something back not only to the Electronic (RAVE) Music Community, but to the world.
What better to give, than hugs? When two people hug both of their
bodies release a hormone called oxytocin (no relation to the street drug oxycotten). What's so cool about that? EVERYTHING!!!!
Oxytocin induces feelings of love, generosity, warmth, bonding, tenderness and togetherness. Who would have guessed you get all that from getting a hug?
But wait.... it gets better =) Have you heard the saying,
"the more you give, the more you get?" Well, it applies to oxytocin, too. The more you nurture and connect with others, the more responsive your body and brain become to it. This makes it an unusual neurotransmitter. Compare it with substances like alcohol or caffeine. The more you use them, the greater the quantity you require to keep achieving the same effect. Oxytocin is the opposite. The more you give and nurture, the more strongly you respond. Can you say, "Yeah baby!!!!"
And this brings us to the vision for Hug Me tees. Researchers have shown
a relationship between oxytocin and trust , making a clear case that the ancient hormone causes a shift in brain chemistry that is evolutionarily important--
the more we trust one another and cooperate, the more we all benefit together.
Knowing this,
our vision is to encourage more hugs, more often. The impact of all of us accomplishing this vision together will literally, absolutely, totally, completely change the world.
