Will Phillips started playing percussion at age 22, despite his late entrance into the music scene, his groove and hard work ethic has gained him a position as one of L.A.’s up and coming in demand percussionist. Will’s passion and versatility has allowed him to share the stage with musicians such as: Marco Tulio, Nando Raio, Michael Shapiro, Kleber Jorge, Joao Aquino (in Brazil), Roger Espinoza, Aaron Serfaty, Michael Duffy, Brad Rabuchin and Jerry Watts amoung others.After graduating College in Austin,TX Will head out to L.A. to study at Los Angeles Music Academy with Randy Gloss, Mike Faue, and Billy Hulting. Graduating in 2003 Will wanted to learn more about Brazilian music. So in 2004 he sold everything he owned other than his percussion and set out on a great mission. Moving to Rio de Janeiro was one of the best moves he has made yet. Their he studied and played with Marcos Suzano, Durval Peria, and Orlando Costa to name a few. While living in Rio de Janeiro Will not only had the chance to play with musicians he admired, he also recorded a few commercial jingles for Shell Gas and a couple local grocery stores. Will’s percussion playing has also been featured on the hit series “Damages” in 2007.Currently, Will is performing all over the Los Angeles area and pushing daily to get better at this great gift of music.
