Born & raised in nothin' but California from The Bay to So Cal, Khela spent the majority of her time growin' up in Vallejo, Ca. She started singing in church w/ her first solo assigned at age 13. From then on she realized she was working w/ something special. Years later in college, Khela auditioned & was selected as a second vocalist to help w/ the completion of the debut album for the East Bay Area conscious rap duo group "2Real". Around that same time she also collaborated w/ Bay area rap duo "2 for tha Money" out of Richmond, Ca. At 19 she took to writing a couple demo's for herself as well to promote the vocal skills she had on deck. So the story goes, in 2006 she met a couple of encouraging people who pushed her to compete in the 2006 State Fair Star competition at the California State Fair held in Sacramento, Ca. After many entry auditions she made it into the top 13 contenders & competed for the title. On the beautiful evening of Sept. 3, 2006 she was crowned the Grand Prize winner by audience round of applause in an estimate of over 2K+ in attendance. That night, Khela awoke from her zombie state of mind and so began the struggle YET pure bliss of living & continuing to persue her dream... MANIFEST YOUR DESTINY.
Couple stats...
Feb.2007-Joined HipHop, Funk, Soul, Jam band, BOMANI & performed on stage until Sept. 2007.
March.2007-Studio recorded w/ Sky Nelson for his album released in May 07 titled "I Forgot I Was Alive".
May.2007-Started my NeoSoul Acoustic band, KHE NOTE & we're STILL runnin' strong...
June.2007-Studio recorded w/ Sammy Totah of THE SCRIBE PROJECT
Sept.2007-Started a production/vocal/relationship w/ EPIDIMIK RECORDS & PROFETIC LYRICS and we're currently STILL attackin' it!
October.2007-Studio recorded w/ Bay Area rap artist Bazialini of Bazialini Music Group.
March.2008-Started a production/vocal/writing relationship w/ POW MUSIC & we're STILL doin' it up.
May.2008-Joined HipHop, R&B, Latin, Funk band THE SCRIBE PROJECT to perform alongside Sammy Totah who has a history of working w/ grammy award winner Carlos Santana & we're STILL boppin' heads!
July.2008-Joined PROFETICLYRICS as an official writer.
Dec.2008-Recorded & presented as a featured vocalist on Profet of PROFETICLYRICS album due out in early 2009.
April.2009-Profet of PROFETICLYRICS album released IN STORES (Vallejo Rasputin), CD BABY & LuLu.com (I am the featured vocalist)
April.2009-Signed w/ management label Velvet Rhythm Entertainment
NOW.2009- Working out the specifics & logistics of it all..
